Don’t be tricked on Cyber Monday in 5 steps
The best tips to save money on Cyber Monday and make great purchasesAfter Black Friday?, the “holiday” to run for shopping, you have the Cyber Monday, to sit and buy online. In reality, nowadays Black Friday has a lot of online sales too, but Cyber Monday is exclusive for the online world. We give you 5 steps to follow and to avoid be tricked.
Define your budgetThe first step is to define what is your budget and always keep it in mind! To set your budget please take into account your fixed and variable monthly expenses. Set a maximum value, but within this value make sure you have a "comfortable" value and a margin you can spend but would like to avoid.
Make a listOnce you have set the budget, it's time to make the list. This is perhaps the most important step. Having a list will keep you safe from spending your budget on things you don't need. Making the list also gives you time to reflect and distinguish what you want from what you need. It's not a problem to have both on the list, though! What is needed is to define well what will stay and take into account the budget that has already set.
You can even make a priority list by putting the essentials you really want to buy first, and letting go of what you will only buy if it is a really good opportunity. We advise you to do this at least 1 month in advance so that you can complete step 3.
Compare & EvaluateWith your shopping list it is important to keep track of the product prices you want to buy. The truth is not always what it seems! In the past companies have raised prices in the weeks before Cyber Mondays and then make promotions that, in fact, were not that super.
With this notion you can already compare with a real idea of the value of what you will buy. This is specially useful when we are talking about items of higher value or the ones you will buy in bulk (and where discounts will make a big difference in the wallet!)
Product InformationConfirm that the product really matches what you want. A price may seem great, but in reality the product/service may not have the features you want. It is important to compare things that are really comparable.
Read and view both the purchase and return conditions too. Also compare shipping costs - what counts is the total amount you will pay - and be careful about the data you share - understand what you really do and really don't share and whenever you have questions asked.
FeedbackSearch online for feedback about the product and/or online store. If you are on a site with fantastic prices and opportunities but searching the web you find nothing: no social networks, feedback, tax data,... It's suspicious! It is best to choose another place.
Today, with all the information online, it's easy to search for feedback and see reviews. Be careful anyway: it is not a negative opinion that makes everything bad, or the other way around.
